Mr. Baker served as the State of Georgia’s Attorney General from 1997-2011 and while in office fought crime, corruption and consumer fraud. He wrote and pushed through a ground-breaking mortgage fraud statute and has also been a leader in areas of child protection, domestic abuse prevention, open government mediation and open meeting access.
He has been a leader among U.S. attorneys general and was elected as President of the National Association of Attorneys General. Mr. Baker has been elected to the Georgia House of Representatives multiple times and was House Floor Leader.
He holds a J.D. from Emory Law School and has engaged in a variety of legal practices throughout his career, including serving as a lawyer for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and managing his own law firm. Mr. Baker serves or has served on multiple community and non-profit boards, and for the past several years, he has been named one of Georgia’s most influential citizens.
